As of this writing, all derivatives, cannabinoids, and isomers of hemp are federally legal under the 2018 Farm Bill. Although hemp is legal on a federal level, most states come up with their own laws and regulations on hemp, but Washington D.C. isn’t a state. According to the Constitution, the United States Congress has ultimate authority over the District of Columbia:

Section 8

To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the Acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of Government of the United States, and to exercise like Authority over all Places purchased by the Consent of the Legislature of the State in which the Same shall be, for the Erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and other needful Buildings;–And

To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof.

(U.S. Constitution)

According to federal law, hemp cannot contain more than 0.3% of Delta-9 on a dry weight basis. Even though marijuana is federally illegal, back in 2015, under initiative 71, recreational marijuana became legal in Washington D.C.

If you plan on buying Delta 9 in Washington D.C. but would like to travel out of the district with it, then don’t fret. Hemp-derived Delta-9 is legal in all 50 states whether it’s our Select Spectrum or Live Rosin products.

What’s Delta 9 THC?

Delta-9 THC used to be solely associated with “weed,” but in reality, Delta-9 is one of many cannabinoids that can be extracted from hemp and marijuana. There are over 100 different compounds that can be derived from hemp.

Delta-9 THC (Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol) is a naturally occurring compound located in hemp and marijuana. This compound has been popular for many years, but the demand has grown as the cannabis community grows. Since the 2018 Farm Bill, businesses have produced hemp products that contain cannabinoids such as CBD, Delta-8, and Delta-9.

What Are the Effects of Delta 9 THC?

As exciting as Delta-9 can be, not everyone has the same reaction towards this cannabinoid. There are many effects that Delta-9 can cause, which results in everyone having their own experience. Although there are no guaranteed effects, here is a list of common effects cannabis fans have reported feeling:

  • Euphoria
  • Uplifted
  • Giggly
  • Motivated
  • Relaxed

These effects can become intensified by consuming greater amounts of Delta-9, which is why we suggest you start with a small amount and wait patiently for the effects to begin. A common error that people make is overestimating the amount they think they can tolerate, which leads to having an experience they didn’t bargain for.

What’s the Difference Between Delta-8 and Delta-9?

Delta-8 and Delta-9 are two forms of THC derived from hemp, yet they offer different effects. To understand this, we have to take a closer look at their chemical structure.

Although Delta-9 and Delta-9 have the same chemical makeup, they differ in their molecular structure.

You see, Delta-9 has a double-bond on the ninth carbon chain, while Delta-8 has a double bond on the eighth carbon chain. This difference in position may seem slight, but as a result, these cannabinoids offer different effects.

Is Delta 9 Safe?

Overall, Delta-9 is generally safe when used correctly. Any product with THC should only be used in moderation. If you have a big day ahead of you, it may not be the best time to take Delta-9 because once you consume THC, you cannot drive a vehicle or operate heavy machinery.

There are various effects that Delta-9 edibles can bring on, but the more you consume, the more intense the effects will be. A clear indicator that you consumed more than your tolerance could handle is if you begin feeling intense sensations or “overwhelmed”.

Keep in mind, these effects are temporary and will go away in a matter of hours. While you wait for the effects to fade over time, we recommend keeping yourself occupied by watching a movie, painting, or listening to music.
