Cannabidiol, or "CBD," is one of over 100 naturally occurring compounds in the cannabis plant species (hemp and marijuana) called cannabinoids. When consumed or applied topically, CBD interacts with the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) of the human body to produce various desirable effects, including relaxation, relief, and a sense of balance. CBD is the second most abundant cannabinoid in cannabis and, unlike THC, is non-psychoactive and non-addictive. CBD derived from hemp is legal in all 50 states and has even been approved by the FDA to treat certain medical conditions like seizures.

Cannabigerol, or "CBG," is a naturally occurring compound in cannabis (hemp and marijuana). It is not as abundant as THC or CBD in mature cannabis plants but can be found in larger quantities in young cannabis plants. CBG interacts with the body's Endocannabinoid System (ECS) to produce various desirable and non-psychoactive effects, such as physical relaxation and reduced inflammation. CBG was only recently discovered, so it is less understood than other cannabinoids. However, scientific research continues to paint a clearer picture of its potential benefits and uses.

CBGA, which stands for cannabigerolic acid, is the acidic form of CBG. Found almost exclusively in young plants, many consider it to be the “mother of all cannabinoids” because it is the precursor to most cannabis compounds. CBGA can convert to THCA, CBDA, and CBCA via biosynthesis, a process aided by heat and light. Recent scientific research suggests CBGA may have potential medical uses and benefits. For example, one study found that CBGA had cytotoxicity on colon cancer cells. However, more research is required to validate these findings.

CBDA stands for "cannabidolic acid." It is one of the byproducts of CBGA and the direct precursor to CBD. CBDA converts to CBD via decarboxylation, a chemical reaction that removes a carboxyl group from a molecule. Recent studies suggest that this naturally occurring cannabinoid may have anti-viral properties and, potentially, anti-cancer medical uses. However, more research is necessary to validate these findings.
