We are proud to announce that a portion of this Memorial Day Weekend proceeds will be donated to the Patriotic Kenny Foundation. If you've been following Hometown Hero for a while, you might know that we've worked with many great nonprofits and charities that help veterans in need, but this time will be our first donation to the Patriotic Kenny Foundation.

So, who is Patriotic Kenny, and how does his organization improve the lives of U.S. veterans? Read below to find out!

Meet Patriotic Kenny

Kenneth Jary, who goes by "Patriotic Kenny" on TikTok, is not your average influencer. Born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, he joined the U.S. Navy immediately after high school between 1959-1965, serving on the refueling squadron aboard the USS Okinawa during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Back in 2021, Kenny's mobility scooter broke down, but his neighbor Amanda helped him regain mobility by using TikTok. Through the support of loved ones and a caring online community, Kenny was able to get a new mobility scooter. But what began as a mission to help one veteran regain his independence soon turned into a mission to help as many veterans regain theirs.

The Patriotic Kenny Foundation believes that "every individual, regardless of physical limitations, deserves the freedom to live a life of dignity and independence." Overall, the charity's goal is to provide for veterans through mobility scooters, along with supportive resources.

A mobility scooter can make all the difference in a veteran's life, such as:

Regaining independence
Improving social connections/ending isolation
Spending more time outdoors and getting fresh air
Injury prevention

Donations to the Patriotic Kenny Foundation can be made through "quick donations," employer matches, fundraisers, or in honor or memory of someone. Every $1,000 raised provides a whole scooter for a U.S. veteran.
