"This is not just a conversation you can have with anyone. You can't just walk up to someone and be like, 'Hey, so, I want to tell you my whole life just changed!'"'

— Maisie Fields, LMT

Our hometown of Austin, Texas, is a vibrant community full of individuals who embody its unique spirit of innovation and trailblazing. Among this city's many trailblazers is Maisie Fields, a blind licensed massage therapist and day trader. Recently, she discovered a new angle to her craft by focusing her mind and honing in on her sense of touch through cannabis.

Maisie has been practicing massage therapy for 24 years, but her approach changed profoundly after encountering Lukas Gilkey, co-founder and CEO of Hometown Hero.

Discovering Hometown Hero

"I've always smoked pot, there in the background," Maisie shared, reflecting on her past relationship with cannabis. But it wasn't until Lukas walked into her studio as a client that hemp-derived THC products became a complete game-changer in her life.

During one session, Lukas returned with several Hometown Hero products. It was from these first samples that she was inspired to implement cannabis in her craft along with other aspects of her life.

"It was kind of something Lukas just walked in with," Maisie explained. Intrigued, she began trying out different milligram counts and products. And she soon discovered how different products fit into different aspects of her life.

"For day trading, I'll use a vape," she said. "If I have a three-hour massage intensive, I'll go with a cereal treat. And I'm good for about five hours."

The Quiet Mind and a Healing Touch

"Because my brain is quiet, I'm in a quiet place," Maisie said. "It gives me time to notice other things. I started noticing I could feel a texture in people's muscles, and what it equals to is pain or something on the path to causing pain."

Through this type of heightened awareness spurred by cannabis, Maisie was able to fill out problem areas for her clients with remarkable accuracy.

"Everything started to change with how I do massage. I can follow that texture all over the body. The point of that is, I wouldn't have recognized any of that if my mind wasn't still," Maisie shared.

Hemp-derived THC didn't just have an impact on Maisie's technique but also kept her going through long days of massages.

"Since it happened, I can do 10 to 12 hours of massage a day and not be tired. I'll take a 5mg gummy before a long day or one at night before bed, and I wake up feeling ready," Maisie said. "I think I was a great therapist before, but the way I massage has changed."

Beyond Healing

Maisie's discovery of Hometown Hero products didn't just impact the way she does massage. As a day trader, she implements cannabis to help her dial in. While doing massages, Maisie prefers edibles, but while making trades, she prefers our vapes.

"I'm a lot more successful now than when I started because I have the ability to calm down, zone in, and focus on the numbers," she explained.

For Maisie, cannabis is not an escape. It's a way of being more present and focused in the moment.

"I'm not doing this so that I can give up control of myself," she adds. " In fact, I think I have more control than I ever did. This is something different."

Cannabis: A Force for Positive Impact

If you ask around at Hometown Hero, you will consistently find that our favorite part of what we do is hearing the positive impact our cannabis products have had on people's lives.

"What you guys have done has affected not just my massage but every aspect of my life," Maisie said. "It's helped me find ways to be still and understand information that will help me."

It was an immense privilege for us to have Maisie Fields come in and share her remarkable story. And today, she remains a Hometown Hero regular, adding, "I only use your products—I don't use anything else."

Until next time, happy exploring and Mind Your Mind.
