Green Wednesday - Cannabis Black Friday: 2022 Update
The end of the year is chock full of holidays, and so is cannabis. Of course, you have 4/20, but you also have Dab Day (7/10), CBD Day (8/8), Delta-8 Day (12/8), and probably many other “cannabis days.”

So what is Green Wednesday?
That's what we're going to answer in this blog post. And you can also bet that at Hometown Hero, we'll have some special discounts for this year's Green Wednesday!
So let's dive right in!
What is Green Wednesday?
In short, Green Wednesday is the day before Thanksgiving, when cannabis enthusiasts stock up for the long weekend or build up a stash for the holiday season.
Because let's face it...things can get a bit hectic.
So why do people build up a stash before Thanksgiving?
The real question is...why wouldn't they?
Thanksgiving is probably the perfect holiday (besides 4/20 and the others) to enjoy Delta-8, HHC, and hemp-derived Delta-9 THC.
Plus, a bit of unwinding can help break the ice between you and family members at the table (especially if they partake as well).
And let's not forget—you can infuse food with hemp-derived THC!
Delta-8 flower and Delta-8 tinctures are especially good for this reason. You can use flower to make cannabutter, which can have a variety of applications. With tinctures, you can pretty much turn just about anything into an edible with a few drops.
Our Natural Flavored Delta-8 Tincture can pair well with savory items such as gravy, turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes. And for topping off dessert, you might want to go with our berry or mint flavors.
Just make sure that if you make edibles for Thanksgiving, make sure they're clearly labeled as such and kept out of the reach of children.
And finally, Thanksgiving is a wonderful time to get reconnected with family. But again, another major reason why people stock up is...it can all be a bit overwhelming.
With travel arrangements, figuring out who is bringing what to the meal, and Black Friday shopping, things can get a bit hectic around this time of year.
But with some hemp-derived THC, relaxation is just a bite, a puff, or a drop away.
Where Does the Green Wednesday Term Come From?
So why do people call it Green Wednesday?
The term "Green Wednesday" was first coined back in 2016 when many dispensaries noticed a significant uptick in cannabis sales on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.
Pretty much, it was a social phenomenon with a name attached to it.
Because other shopping holidays occur around the same time, such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday, it only felt appropriate to call it "Green Wednesday."
What to Expect From Green Wednesday
We're not going to give too many details just yet. But for Green Wednesday, Hometown Hero will offer some sweet discounts on some customer favorites.
Plus, you can guarantee that we'll have other deals running through Black Friday, the rest of the weekend, and Cyber Monday.
But if you plan on picking up some of your favorite goodies from us on Green Wednesday, expect it to be more of a "holiday prepping stash" vs. a stash for Thanksgiving since it's going to be shipped to your home.
However, at least you won't need to leave the house! Since hemp is federally legal, it can be bought online with credit or debit and shipped across state lines to your front doorstep!
Green Wednesday is the Cannabis Black Friday
So that pretty much wraps things up as far as Green Wednesday goes!
It's pretty much the Black Friday of cannabis. But also, you should keep an eye out for Hometown Hero Black Friday deals along with other sales and discounts that will be running through weekend until Monday.
But here's the most important thing to remember during this time of the year.
Sure, there's the food, the traveling, the shopping, and of course, the cannabis. But most of all, don't forget to take a moment to be grateful and spend some quality time with your family.
At Hometown Hometown, gratitude isn't just a holiday thing, but it's something that we practice every day. No matter the time of the year, we donate a portion of proceeds from every product sold to nonprofits that help U.S. veterans in need.
These organizations include:
The Disabled American Veterans
Veterans of Foreign Wars
Operation Finally Home
- Sacred Warrior Community
From benefits advocacy to building free custom homes for veterans and their families, the work of these nonprofits is nothing short of amazing.
To all U.S. veterans, we cannot thank you enough for the sacrifices you've made for this country, and we are forever grateful.
And to everyone out there, from all of us at Hometown Hero, have a happy Thanksgiving!
